ENIAC, the first electronic computer

ENIAC weighs about 27 tons, uses 17,468 vacuum tubes and performs 5,000 additions per second. A ballistics calculation that took 12 hours by hand comes out in 30 seconds. Six women programmed it by rewiring cables, and the press of the time erased their work.
