AlexNet opens the deep learning era
The neural network built by Alex Krizhevsky, Ilya Sutskever and Geoffrey Hinton wins the ImageNet challenge with a 15.3% error rate, against 26.2% for the runner-up. It was trained on two gaming graphics cards. Almost everything that came after starts here.
