Maricá expands its basic income in its own currency
A municipal law raises the Citizen's Basic Income of Maricá (Rio de Janeiro state) to 130 mumbucas per person. The mumbuca is a social currency worth R$1 that circulates only in local shops. The program began in 2013 as Bolsa Mumbuca.
